Since very early on in my second pregnancy I have been suffering with lower back pain and SPD (admittedly a mild case). So when BritMums told me they were teaming up with Deep Freeze Pain Relief Patches I knew I wanted to be involved and see if they could give me any help.
I have always remained active during pregnancy, taking prenatal yoga classes, aquanatal, walking my dogs and of course all the excercise that comes with a two year old. According to Deep Freeze research 36% of women during pregnancy choose not to excercise and 20% of them say this is due to back pain. I feel you ladies!
The problem I was having was that despite feeling fit and wanting to excercise my back was being pushed to its limit. With Little Viking being determined to still have cuddles and be carried around town on occasion plus the continued growing weight of bump my back was really starting to suffer.
The patches arrived on a perfect day, I had taken Little Viking out without the buggy (real rookie error!) and he had decided to become very tired half way around town. As a result of me having to carry him all the way home, the site of the patches in the mail was joyful!
The box contains 4 patches that come in a resealable bag. I thought this was fab, not too much packaging (a huge bug bare of mine) and as it can be resealed nothing becomes wasted. When you open the pack you do get a smell of the medication, but it doesn’t transfer to clothes once you cover up the patch. The patch sat comfortably in the middle of my lower back and worked instantly, the relief was in seconds, I was very impressed.
The main seller for me with the patches is that pain relief is so limited during pregnancy, with oral pain relief being particularly limited. I liked that the solution was instant and lasted a good few hours. I ended up buying more of the patches and using them as a sleep aid.
My brother who is an avid rugby player also pinched a couple as he often gets a little “battered” during matches. He often uses the freeze sprays for his treatment and said these were much better as they lasted a lot longer and he could even continue to play.
With only a few days left until my due date I will be relying on these more heavily no doubt!
